Here the author considers the relationship between him and God to be as loyal and faithful as that of a dog and his master. Dogs are the most loyal animal. They never ditch their masters and shower them with unconditional love. The dog becomes furious and barks when his master is attacked.
Similarly, the author says when God’s truth is neglected or covered with some lies he would react to it strongly. And if doesn’t do so then he will be renamed as a coward.
